I was at the Edmonton Motor Show and was checking out some trucks when I came upon the Ram 2500 Power Wagon. I always thought these were just a Ram with a mild lift but BOY was I wrong.

Kinja'd!!!

Here is what comes standard on it:

-Front and Rear Lockers

-Electronic swaybar disconnect

-2"lift over standard truck

-Bilstein Shocks

-Totally redesigned suspension called “Articulink” (allows for way more flex than standard truck)

-33" Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs

-17" alloy wheels (SLT Ram gets chrome clad steel wheels)

- Much larger and stronger axles than standard 2500 Ram

-12,000lbs Warn winch

-Full Skid Plates

-4.10 gears

-HID Headlights

-Fog Lights

All this for $51,395!!! What an AMAZING value. Don’t get me wrong 50+k is a lot of cash but when you think that this is only $2850.00 more than a 6.4L equipped SLT which has absolutely NONE of these features it’s a fucking bargain. The amount of upgrades you get for $2850 is a fucking joke. The winch alone would cost you $2100 if you were to buy it on it’s own.

Don’t believe me have a look for yourself. please note these are net pricing including Freight and PDI.

I’m not a huge fan of the graphics and chrome on the 2016 but luckily the 2017 model looks 1000% better. Good thing that I’m broke and can afford to wait.

Here is the 2017 Model for comparison.

Kinja'd!!!

The 2017 Ram Power Wagon has officially became my Holy grail dream truck.

Kinja'd!!!

Even my little guy loved it.

I too was surprised by the value the Power Wagon offers compared to it’s competition. When I saw it at the auto show I was expecting it to be at least $60k...hell the damn Ram 1500 Ecodiesel next to it was $60k.

“Bilstein Shocks with 32" of travel” who told you this nonsense?

The 2016 PW can be based off the Tradesman, SLT, or Laramie.
Tradesman $46,560
SLT $51,160
Laramie $57,580

I know what you are saying. Even a Ram 1500 Hemi Sport next to it was $52,000.

This is Canadian Pricing.

We get the Power Wagon as just Power Wagon and we can also get the Laramie Power wagon. and the ST Power wagon(same as your Tradesman) But the pricing is pretty fucked up.

The ST(Tradesman) with the Power Wagon upgrade is actually more than the standard Power Wagon.

ST(Tradesman) with Power Wagon package $51,540

Regular Power Wagon $51,395

Laramie with Power Wagon package $62,840

It’s easy to see the the Power Wagon(I guess it would be your SLT power wagon) is the best value of all.

Maybe I worded this wrong but if a shock can extend 16" and compress 16" doesn’t that mean it has 32" of travel?

edit: I heard it in one of the reviews, it must be wrong. I guess you can’t believe everything you hear on the internet.

it doesn’t, but I don’t buy 32 inches of travel for a blind second. I think what they mean is that at full diaginal there is a 32 inch difference between the fully compressed rear and the fully light front, there is no way there is 32 inches of stroke per wheel.

As well for another kick in the nuts Our SLT version is $51,395 CAD which equals only $39,796 USD.

Which takes me back to a question I’ve asked before.

A lot of manufactures play this trick of “XX” inches of wheel travel...what they mean is that there is a maximum spread of X inches between a wheel fully compressed and full open and even then its measured in a funny way. For perspective this is what a 10 inches stroke travel suspension looks like.

Kinja'd!!!

And this is the stock 9 inches

Kinja'd!!!

What ram is doing is measuring the size of that hill.

I figured your Canada pricing would be slightly different, but figured the vehicle tiers would be similar. That part about ST/Tradesman is weird. By your post I wasn’t sure if you guys had 3 levels like the US or just 2. Instead, you have 3, but only 2 useful ones...

The PowerWagon is a great deal based off it’s capabilities. I’ve looked at the older 5.7L before (1st year of the current PW was 2005) and they can be great deals used too (most 5.7s are sub $30k). 2014 was the first 6.4L.

I remember having to look this up not that long ago to find out how that type of claim could be true so don’t feel too bad that they got you with their market speak this time...they had me once too.

We used PW trucks as support vehicles in Moab when we did vehicle testing out there for Grand Cherokee. Those trucks are made for that environemnt

This is exactly how it when down when I saw it.

Kinja'd!!!

I’d have to save up and put 10-15K down if I ever bought one be cause I’m sure as hell not financing a $55000 truck.

Yea, I wouldn’t mind one either. They’re pretty beast mode but I’d get sick of the 12 MPG real fast. I’m not sure how much longer I can DD something that gets that type of fuel mileage. My buddy’s lifted ‘14 Taco gets 17-18 around town and mid 20s highway... I’m hoping the US-bound Ranger gets the JLR diesel like I’ve heard.

I agree the fuel mileage is the only thing holding me back other than the lack of funds to buy it.

My current daily averages 33 mpg it would be real hard to give that up.

I dig the Power Wagon. If you get one, you should get it in orange with the retro graphics. I’ll be sad if you don’t.

No orange for me. I had an orange car once and it was terrible! I got pulled over all the time.

The fire engine red on the other hand looks amazing. I’d probably just end up with black or something but the red is seriously tempting.

Take this now put a police cruiser in front of it and another one behind it. Now just sit there for and hour and a half.

Kinja'd!!!

Your only crime? having a noticeable car. No ticket,no warnings just a “random document check”. all this when you are 20 miles from home after being on the road for 8 hours.

I’ll NEVER have a IN YOUR FACE car color again. I got pulled over 13 times in 1 year and not one of those times was because I broke any laws. Never got a warning or ticket.
